In a few words
You can practise without creating an account. Saved voice recordings stay in this browser. We do not sell your personal information or run advertising trackers. Use a nickname and avoid putting private details into practice answers.
Who handles your information?
The data controller is Sandesh Chhetri trading as Chhetri Academy, a sole trader. Business and correspondence address: 48 Windmill Road, GU12 4NH, United Kingdom. Contact chhetriacademy@outlook.com about your information, account or privacy.
Information we use
- Google Firebase handles email, nickname, password authentication and verification. Your browser sends your password to Firebase over HTTPS. The Chhetri Academy application server does not receive or store your password.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and its database. Signed-in learning activity, study settings, practice answers, feedback and access status are stored against your account.
- Security processing includes network requests and short-lived rate limits using a hash of your IP address. Account administration is restricted and logged.
- If paid subscriptions open, Stripe will process payment details. The app stores Stripe references and subscription status, not full card details. Paid checkout is currently closed.
Recordings and drawings
Drawing marks are checked in your browser; the handwriting coach does not upload your drawing. My Speaking Journey saves audio in this browser only, separately for each account and guest practice. Download or delete recordings in the journal. Signing out does not erase them. Browser storage is not a secure vault on a shared device.
The optional Check my speech feature, when available and explicitly selected, sends a recording to OpenAI for transcription. It is currently not connected. Do not include private information in recordings. The app does not save speech-check audio or transcripts in its learning database. Provider processing information is shown with that feature.
Why we process it
Adult account and necessary learning data are used to provide the service requested under our agreement. Learning records can also relate to a child practising with an adult; those records are private to the account and are not used for marketing. Security and troubleshooting support our legitimate interest in running a safe service. We retain necessary financial records for legal and accounting obligations. Optional microphone access requires your browser permission; you can stop recording and withdraw that permission in browser settings.
Children and families
Accounts and purchases are for adults. Children can use activities with an adult’s support. We do not ask for children’s dates of birth, schools or full names. Avoid identifying children in nicknames, feedback, recordings and written answers. There is no public learner directory, public voice sharing or location leaderboard. Practice saved while using an adult’s account can be viewed by that adult. Use imaginary people and places in writing exercises. A parent can contact us about a child’s information. The adult checkbox is a declaration, not identity or age verification.
Cookies and browser storage
Necessary browser storage keeps your sign-in, preferences, offline lessons, pending progress and saved recordings. Keep me signed in controls whether sign-in persists across browser sessions. There is no advertising or optional analytics consent switch because this app does not install those trackers. Your browser and the hosting/authentication services may use essential security storage. Clearing this site’s data removes local practice and recordings; export anything important first.
How long information stays
Account and learning data remain while you keep the account, or until you request deletion. Feedback and owner audit entries are scheduled for removal after one year. App billing records are retained for up to six years after a purchase or cancelled subscription update. Security rate-limit records expire quickly and are cleaned daily. Local recordings and offline copies stay until you delete them or clear browser data. Provider backups and security records follow the relevant provider’s retention policies.
Your choices and rights
My learning provides account-data export and deletion. Deletion cancels future subscription renewals before removing learning data, then removes the Firebase sign-in account. Necessary billing records may remain. Downloads and offline copies on your other devices must be removed separately. Contact us to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or to object where those rights apply. We may need to verify account ownership. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Service providers and international processing
Google and Cloudflare may process data outside the UK. Their contractual data-protection terms and international-transfer arrangements apply to the services they provide; the controller’s provider and transfer review remains part of the paid-launch assessment. See Firebase privacy information and Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Stripe and OpenAI apply only when their respective features are enabled. We will update this notice when processing changes.
